UPKL Season 2: Second day of the match…Awadh-Kashi’s spectacular victory, Purvanchal’s comeback defeated by Lucknow
Noida. Day two of the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League (UPKL) Season 2 at the Noida Indoor Stadium saw teams display varying styles, including a thrilling one-point encounter as well as spectacular victories that showcased the growing competitiveness of the league. Avadh Ramdoot started the day by defeating Kanpur Warriors 35-34 in a tight match which was not decided till the last raid.
After Sushant’s late super raid, Kanpur Warriors were leading 17-15 at halftime, but Awadh Ramdoot made a strong comeback in the second half. Captain Abhimanyu Raghuvanshi led the comeback while Awadh’s defense remained strong under pressure to seal a small but important victory.
In the second match, Kashi Kings produced their best performance of the tournament so far by defeating Ganga Kings of Mirzapur 52-30. Kashi Kings controlled the game throughout the match, scoring six all-outs and continuously leading the scoreboard. Raider of the match Arjun Sirohi led the attack, while best defender Vipul Chaudhary handled the defense effectively.
Defending champions Lucknow Lions continued their strong run with an impressive 40-21 win over Purvanchal Panthers. Lucknow Lions had set the tone right from the start, Arjun Deshwal started the match with a super raid and gave his team a lead of 20-8 at halftime. After the break, Purvanchal tried to make a comeback, but Lucknow broke their momentum by making four well-timed super tackles.
Deshwal won the Raider of the Match title with nine raid points and three tackle points, while Mohammad Aman was named Defender of the Match with seven tackle points. In the last match of the day, Aligarh Tigers faced a tough challenge from last season’s runner-up Sangam Challengers and won 42-32.
Sangam Challengers started strong with a disciplined defense and were all-out early, but Aligarh Tigers came back with a better performance in the second half. Defenders Vashu and Akshay Rathi made crucial super tackles, while raiders Kunal Bhati (eight raid points) and Anuj (ten raid points) kept up the pressure.
A brilliant Super Raid from Vinay Tewatia resulted in two decisive all-outs, sealing Aligarh’s victory. The Kabaddi action will continue at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Saturday, with the matches starting at 5:00 PM, in which Yamuna Warriors will take on Ghazab Ghaziabad, Kanpur Warriors will take on Ganga Kings of Mirzapur, Noida Ninjas will take on Awadh Ramdoot, and Aligarh Tigers will take on Kashi Kings.
