Know how to protect yourself during this time – Obnews

Women have to face many problems during pregnancy, one of which is urine infection. During pregnancy, hormonal changes and the growing uterus put pressure on the bladder, due to which bacteria can easily enter the bladder and cause urine infection.

Symptoms of urine infection during pregnancy:

  • frequent urination
  • burning or pain while urinating
  • blood in urine
  • pain in the lower abdomen
  • Fever
  • feeling cold

Ways to prevent urine infection during pregnancy:

  • Adequate intake of water: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. This keeps the bladder clean and reduces the chances of bacteria growing.
  • Do not stop urination: When you feel like urinating, go immediately. Holding back urination increases the risk of bacteria growing.
  • Wear cotton underwear: Avoid synthetic underwear as it traps sweat and increases the risk of bacteria growth.
  • Wipe from front to back after defecation: Always wipe from front to back after defecation to avoid bacteria getting into the bladder.
  • Hot Bath: Bathing with hot water keeps the urinary tract clean.
  • Keep sugar level under control: Women suffering from diabetes have a higher risk of urine infection, so keep the sugar level under control.
  • Eat a healthy diet: Eat fiber rich diet and avoid constipation.
  • Regular checkup with doctor: Get yourself checked by a doctor regularly so that any problem can be detected in time.

What to do in case of urine infection:

  • If you see symptoms of urine infection, contact a doctor immediately.
  • Take the medicines prescribed by the doctor regularly.
  • Get enough rest.

Note: Consult a doctor before taking any kind of medicine during pregnancy.
