Big deal with Boeing

The US Air Force has decided to make this single source deal worth $100 million with Boeing Company. Officials believe that if this contract is given to any other company, there will be a lot of delay in production. This bomb is made only by Boeing, so the Air Force is purchasing it directly from that company.

The truth about Operation Midnight Hammer

Last year, on June 22, 2025, America launched a major attack on Iran’s nuclear bases which was called Operation Midnight Hammer. America took this strict military action after a fierce 12-day war between Israel and Iran. It was during this mission that America used its most deadly 14 MOP bombs in war for the first time.

Use of B-2 spirit

Seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers were used very efficiently in this historic mission. Each aircraft had dropped two powerful bombs each on Iran’s nuclear bases at Fordow and Natanz, causing heavy damage to them. After this attack, America’s stock of these bombs had reduced considerably, which is now being replenished.

The GBU-57 bomb weighs approximately 30,000 pounds i.e. 13,600 kg, which makes it the heaviest bomb in the world. It has a 5,740 pound warhead that can penetrate very strong concrete to a depth of 200 feet. It has been specially designed to destroy command centers and nuclear facilities hidden under the ground.

Official documents of the US Air Force clearly state that it is mandatory to replenish the bombs used in war. Till 2015, America had only 20 such bombs, the production of which was continued even later. Now the delivery of new bombs is likely to start from January 2028, which will significantly increase the firepower of the army.

Preparation of next generation bomb

Currently the US is working on developing a new age bunker buster called Next Generation Penetrator (NGP). This new bomb can be easily used in the future with modern stealth bombers like B-21 Raider. At present, this new purchase of MOP bombs is being considered a temporary but very necessary military arrangement.

This big purchase is happening at a time when President Donald Trump has given a very strict statement regarding Iran. Trump has said that nuclear talks should continue but if no agreement is reached then military action is certain. America now seems fully committed to stopping Iran’s nuclear ambitions at any cost.
