United States-Iran direct talks will start again!

United States and Iran America is preparing for the second round of direct talks amid the ongoing tension between the two. This information has come to light in a CNN report. Despite long talks held earlier in Islamabad, no concrete result could be achieved.

According to the report, US President Donald Trump has indicated that he is ready to resume talks if Iran shows willingness to accept America’s conditions.

What did Donald Trump say?

Trump also claimed on Monday that Iran itself has contacted and wants to make a deal. However, he did not clarify who made the call and who received it in America. Trump administration officials are internally discussing preparations for a second face-to-face meeting with Iran. This meeting can be held before the ceasefire period ending on April 21, although it is not yet decided whether the meeting will take place or not.

According to sources in the report, it has been said that discussions are going on at the initial level regarding the date and place of the meeting. The cities being considered include Geneva and Istanbul. A source said that if the situation moves in that direction, we will have to make preparations quickly.

What happened in the talks in Islamabad?

Earlier, the talks held in Islamabad had lasted for about 21 hours, in which mediators from countries like Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt and Oman were involved. Despite long talks, both the parties could not reach any agreement. However, officials say that this meeting was just one stage of a longer process.

Meanwhile, increasing the pressure, America has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports in Hormuz. American officials believe that this can bring Iran back to the negotiating table. At the same time, Iran believes that it still has a strong position, because it controls this important sea route and has the ability to influence the global oil supply.

Iran has already rejected these conditions and even after several weeks of conflict, there has not been much change in its position. During the talks held in Islamabad on Saturday, both sides presented their respective proposals to resolve the nuclear issue. The American side suggested that Iran stop uranium enrichment for 20 years.

On what conditions does America not want to retreat?

According to a White House official, there are some conditions of America on which there will be no compromise. These include completely stopping Iran’s uranium enrichment, dismantling its major nuclear plants, and recovering more than 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium that is believed to be hidden underground.

There is increasing pressure within America to ensure that this conflict does not turn into a full-scale war, as concerns are being raised about the economic and political damage of a prolonged war. Officials are still hopeful that a diplomatic solution can be found. Sources say that depending on the pace of talks, the ceasefire deadline can also be extended, so that more time can be given for the agreement.
