Washington: India's stature is growing rapidly in the world. The proof of this is the meeting on the progress of the 'India-West Asia-Europe' economic corridor. This project was discussed by the US and UAE. This project was presented by the G20 leaders in New Delhi. US President Joe Biden and his UAE counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed held a meeting with each other.

The two leaders discussed the progress of the India-West Asia-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and underlined its potential to usher in a “new era of international connectivity”. The ambitious project was introduced by the leaders of India, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy and the European Union at the G20 Leaders Summit to be held in New Delhi in 2023. How will India benefit from IMEC

It will provide India with ship and rail connectivity to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel. According to a joint statement, in a meeting held at the White House on Monday, Biden and Zayed affirmed that the corridor will boost economic growth, increase efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enable the transformational integration of Asia, Europe and West Asia.

Emphasis on convenience

“The two leaders emphasised that this transformational partnership has the potential to usher in a new era of international connectivity by facilitating global trade and clean energy distribution, expanding reliable access to electricity, and strengthening telecommunications,” the statement said.
