America carried out airstrike on Iran’s Sirik and Qeshm islands, deal broken just 8 days after the attack?

US launches airstrike on Iran: America attacked Iran on Friday. It says that this action has been taken in response to the Iranian drone attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. It is the biggest test yet for the interim agreement the two countries reached a week ago to end months of war and begin work toward reopening the vital waterway.

US President Donald Trump said that the drone attack violated the ceasefire. The attacks came after Trump told reporters that “you’ll find out” whether the US will respond. US Central Command said the military attacked missile and drone bases and coastal radar sites in Iran. “I don’t like the fact that they attacked yesterday, actually four attacks,” Trump said at the White House shortly before the US retaliatory strike. When asked why there would be attacks when Trump himself says talks with Tehran are going well, Trump said of Iran: “They’re a little different.”

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it targeted sites in an area where US troops are deployed; This action has been taken in response to the recent attack by the Trump administration. Following US-brokered talks, Israel and Lebanon have signed a “framework agreement”. Washington says its aim is to stop “a never-ending series of conflicts”. The Lebanese organization Hezbollah has rejected the agreement; An MP from the organization says this will only “serve Israel’s interests”.

US Central Command statement

US Central Command wrote in the X Post, “On June 26, US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted strikes against Iran. This action was a strong response to yesterday’s attack on a commercial liner passing through the Strait of Hormuz. On June 25, after Iran attacked the M/V Ever Lovely ship with a one-way attack drone, US aircraft carried out strikes against Iran. “At the time of the Iranian attack, the Singapore-flagged cargo ship was transiting the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman.”

This unnecessary aggression by Iranian forces against commercial shipping was a clear violation of the ceasefire. Additionally, Iran’s dangerous behavior also undermines freedom of navigation, which is where much of the trade flows through this vital international trade corridor. CENTCOM forces continue to provide coordination and support to ensure safe passage of commercial vessels transiting the strait. The US military remains present and vigilant to ensure that all aspects of the Iran deal are followed and fully implemented.
