US Embassy will remain closed from December 24 to December 26, decision taken after President’s order

US Embassies and Consulates in India will remain closed from December 24, 2025 (Wednesday) to December 26, 2025 (Friday). This closure has been done under the executive order of the President, which directs all departments and agencies of the federal government to remain closed during these dates.

Regular consular services, such as visa applications, passport renewals and other consular services will not be available during this period. However, those who feel the need for emergency consular assistance can seek guidance from the embassy or consulate, such as assistance with medical emergencies or legal matters.

The Embassy has requested all persons planning to visit the Embassy or seek Embassy services during these dates to re-arrange their travel. If you have an appointment scheduled during this period, you may have to reschedule your appointment.
