New Delhi: The entire draft of the much-awaited agreement between America and Iran has been made public. In this document issued by America, 14 major points have been mentioned, the purpose of which is to reduce tension between the two countries, increase regional stability and advance economic cooperation. This agreement is being considered historic because it covers many important issues like security, trade, nuclear program and economic relief.
Prohibition on war and military action
According to the agreement, America and Iran have agreed to immediately stop all types of military action, attacks and firing. Both the countries have also promised that they will not take any threat or aggressive step against each other.
Respect for sovereignty and 60 days of talks
Both sides will respect each other’s sovereignty, borders and territorial integrity. Also, continuous negotiations will be continued to reach a comprehensive and final agreement within 60 days. No new military or restrictive measures will be taken during this period.
Strait of Hormuz and naval blockade
The most important part of the agreement is related to the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has assured to ensure safe and uninterrupted movement of ships through this sea route. In return, America has agreed to lift the naval blockade on Iran within 30 days and reduce military presence.
Economic Relief and Investment Scheme
America has also assured to take important steps towards providing economic relief to Iran. Under the agreement, some sanctions will be relaxed, there will be relief in oil exports and banking services and the process of releasing Iran’s stranded assets and funds will be started. Apart from this, a possible economic plan of 300 billion dollars has also been agreed for the development of Iran.
Consensus reached on nuclear program
Iran has made it clear that it will not develop nuclear weapons. Issues related to the nuclear program will be discussed in detail in the upcoming technical talks between the two countries.
Monitoring and international recognition
A special mechanism will be created to monitor compliance with the agreement. There is also a plan to get the final agreement approved by the United Nations Security Council, so that it can get recognition and support at the international level. If this agreement is successfully implemented, it will reduce tensions in the Middle East and may also provide stability to global trade and energy markets.
