60 days, $6 billion and the eyes of the world; Know the complete inside story of this agreement between America and Iran
US Iran Peace Talks Switzerland: The first round of peace talks between America and Iran is going to start from today in Burgenstock resort of Switzerland. The main objective of this dialogue is to curb nuclear programs and restore stability in the region. US Vice President JD Vance has already arrived to take part in this high-level conversation. The meeting is part of the interim peace agreement reached last week, giving both countries 60 days to find a permanent solution.
What is the matter of 6 billion dollars?
The biggest proposal on this negotiating table is related to the investigation of nuclear sites. Washington wants Tehran to allow United Nations (UN) inspectors to visit and thoroughly inspect its nuclear sites, which were last inspected in June 2025.
In return, America is ready to provide major financial relief to Iran. According to the report, $6 billion of Iran’s funds frozen in Qatar can be released. However, America has placed the condition that this amount will be used only for humanitarian needs such as purchase of food items, medicines and other essential items.
Shahbaz and Munir have also reached Switzerland
Pakistan has emerged as an important mediator in this important diplomatic process. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir have also reached Switzerland to participate in the talks.
On the Iranian side, Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Central Bank Governor Abdolnasser Hemmati are leading their team. JD Vance expressed hope that these talks will create a strong framework to resolve complex issues like Israel-Lebanon conflict and nuclear security.
Intelligence agencies warned
While on one hand efforts are being made for peace, on the other hand American intelligence agencies have also issued a big alert. According to agencies, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may become an obstacle in this peace process. Due to domestic political pressure, Netanyahu wants to continue his military action against Hezbollah in Lebanon, which could directly affect the talks.

There is also uncertainty regarding the Strait of Hormuz amid talks. President Donald Trump has indicated that as long as these 60 days of negotiations are going on, there will be no duty on ships passing through there. However, he has clearly warned that if the peace deal fails, the US may take tougher measures in the future and impose duties on the ships. Now the eyes of the whole world are on whether this 60 day time limit will be able to save West Asia from the fire of war.
