US-Israel Iran War: Prime Minister Modi’s call to Netanyahu in the wake of the Israel-Iran war; Said, ‘Now this…’

The emergency CCS meeting convened at midnight under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the global economic and strategic implications of this war. The Prime Minister held a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), the country’s highest decision-making body on security and policy matters. The meeting was called to review the situation arising from the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei due to an attack by the US and Israel.

Meanwhile, most of the air routes in West Asia are almost closed. Hundreds of Indians have been stranded at Dubai, Doha and other major airports in the region as air services have been disrupted by the military blockade, and many have taken to social media to appeal to the Indian government for help. The meeting also learned that the situation arising out of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian authorities, a major shipping route for Indian oil companies, was reviewed.
Discussion on security of Indians stuck in Gulf countries
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended the meeting. Senior officials briefed the committee on the current situation in West Asia and its implications for India. The meeting is said to have discussed the security of Indian nationals living in West Asia and those stranded in the region, and ways to respond should the situation worsen.
