US Justice Department sues Google, Chrome browser may be sold

New Delhi: The US Department of Justice (DOJ) is planning to urge the court to force Google to sell its Chrome browser in the ongoing antitrust case against Google. In the antitrust case, the court had said that Google has illegally maintained a monopoly in the search market. Chrome is the most used browser in the world. Google uses it to promote its other products, which limits the growth of its competition. According to Bloomberg report, government lawyers say that Google's search monopoly is harming competition. Additionally, it has become a big issue for Google to use Chrome to promote its products.

“A radical agenda”

Lee-Ann Mulholland, Google's vice president of regulatory affairs, told Bloomberg that the Justice Department is “pursuing a radical agenda in this case that goes far beyond the legal issues.” Google says the move will harm the company's competitors. There may be an adverse effect on the environment and it may have a negative impact on the industry. The US Justice Department may demand Google to make some important changes.
