Heavy firing at Mar-a-Lago resort amid standoff between Iran and US, where was Trump?

On Sunday morning, a young man was shot dead by American Secret Service agents and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, USA. The incident occurred when the young man entered the restricted security zone of President Donald Trump’s resort. Amidst the tension between America and Iran, a period of speculation continues.

According to the Secret Service, President Trump was in Washington at the time of the incident and no protected individuals were present at the resort. The agency said the youth was seen arming himself with a weapon and a fuel can near the north gate before entering the resort’s security cordon.

How did the incident happen?

What did the young man do? “The man was seen at the north gate of the Mar-a-Lago property, holding a shotgun and a can of fuel,” according to a Secret Service statement. The youth entered the security area and there was an exchange of fire with the agents. ‘After entering the security area and firing action, the youth was declared dead on the spot.’ The identity of the young man has not yet been released as authorities have yet to notify his family.

Were any security officers injured?

No Secret Service or Sheriff’s personnel were injured in the incident. The encounter is being jointly investigated by the FBI, the Secret Service, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The background of the youth, his actions and possible motive have been included in the investigation. ‘We are investigating his behaviour, background and intentions. It is our priority to ensure that there is no threat to security. President Trump was in Washington at the time of the incident and no other security personnel were present at the resort. Therefore there was no immediate threat to the life of any VIP.
