Washington: Amid diplomatic tensions between India and Canada, the US has rejected reports of Washington considering expelling Indian diplomats. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller rejected these reports in a press conference on Tuesday, saying that I am not aware of any reports that we have expelled Indian diplomats. I am not aware of any such removal.

Following the news of Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Verma and several other diplomats being sent back to India, there were reports of the US considering expelling Indian diplomats, which have now been completely rejected by the US government. This is being seen as a big success for India in the world. Because a country like America has to present clarification.

What happened between Canada and India?

India expelled 6 Canadian diplomats after tensions with Canada increased. Canada also expelled 6 Indian diplomats. The Indian government also recalled its High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma from Canada. The Indian Foreign Ministry had said that we do not trust the Canadian government to provide them security. Canada had named Indian diplomats as suspects in a case. It is being linked to the case of murder of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar.

Being the High Commissioner and the messenger between the two countries, I sent that note to Delhi. After this, the Indian Foreign Ministry called the Canadian High Commissioner and said that the Indian Government has decided that 6 Canadian diplomats will have to leave India. Canada was informed about this. After this, the next day, information was sent to us through email from Canada, in which it was said that all 6 of us have been declared undesirable.

Root of India-Canada dispute

Actually, this case is related to the murder of Khalistan supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar was declared a terrorist by India, even though he was a Canadian citizen. On June 18 last year, Nijjar was shot dead near a gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia. On September 18 last year, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau had alleged the involvement of Indian agents in Nijjar's murder. However, India has always rejected these allegations of Canada as absurd and baseless.

On Monday, when the Canadian police arrested Indian diplomats and consular officials on charges of taking advantage of their position to gather information directly or through agents, it means that Canada has directly put Indian diplomats in the dock. . Later, Trudeau also repeated the same allegations in the press conference.
