Why is MQ-4C Triton special?

- Price: Around $200 million (Rs 1856 crore).
- Capacity: It can stay in the air for 24 to 30 hours at a time and can fly up to a height of 56 thousand feet.
- Range: Its operational range is 15,200 kilometers.
- Technology: It is equipped with 360 degree multifunction radar, electro-optical cameras and signals intelligence (SIGINT) sensors, which can detect the enemy.
- Keep an eye on missile activities and submarines.
Is Iran involved in this?
Till now neither America nor Iran has given any official statement on this. However, experts are raising three main possibilities:
Technical failure: Sudden failure in the drone’s engine or satellite communication link.
Electronic Warfare: Iran may have disrupted drone signals using its powerful jamming system developed with the help of Russia and China.
Missile Attack: Although no evidence of any missile launch has been found, in 2019 Iran shot down an American Global Hawk drone in the same area.

Strategic concerns and growing threat
