World number-1 Aryna Sabalenka has entered the final of US Open 2025 by defeating American star Jessica Pegula who made a brilliant comeback. According to Indian time, in the semi-final match played on Friday, the Belarus player won by 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. This match, which was considered a rematch of last year’s final, started with a weak start for Sabalenka. After losing the first set, he made a strong comeback and put pressure on Pegula in front of the local crowd with 43 winners and 8 aces.
Pegula played the first set brilliantly, making only three unforced errors and taking the lead after the opening break exchange, but Sabalenka returned to the court in the second set with new confidence. He won three consecutive games and changed the outcome of the game with his aggressive projections. In the deciding set, Sabalenka broke the first game and showed her tenacity by saving three break points in the sixth game. Although Pegula made the match more exciting by saving two match points, Sabalenka sealed the victory with a forehand winner and celebrated loudly. Now in the final, Sabalenka will face the winner between Japan’s four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka and America’s eighth seed Amanda Anisimova.
