Trump’s big attack on Iran’s oil network, 29 ships blacklisted; Indian shipping companies also on radar

Trump Administration Iran Sanctions: Taking major action against Iran’s secret petroleum shipping network, America has imposed sanctions on 29 ships. In this action taken by the Trump administration, the names of many shipping companies and operating units related to India have also come to light. The US Department of the Treasury (Treasury) says these ships were involved in the illegal transportation of Iranian oil and petroleum products worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

According to the US Treasury, this step has been taken to cut off the Iranian regime’s income streams which are used to fund terrorism, military activities and other illegal activities. Tommy Pigott, principal deputy spokesperson for the Treasury, said the US is committed to disrupting Iran’s financial networks that export petroleum and related products through clandestine means.

Operations spread across multiple countries

The Treasury said the sanctioned network included companies and vessels linked to Egyptian businessman Hatem Elsayed Farid Ibrahim Saqr. Their activities were spread in countries like United Arab Emirates, India, Marshall Islands and Panama. The investigation found that companies linked to Sakr were involved in the ownership or management of seven of the 29 ships.

Indian shipping companies also on radar

The ships belonging to India whose names have come to light include the Barbados flag ship Flora Dolce. The vessel is reported to be owned and managed by India-based Rukbat Marine Services. It is alleged that this ship transported millions of barrels of Iranian fuel oil from April 2025 till now.

Iranian oil transportation allegations

Similarly, the Panama-flagged ship Aurora, operated by India’s Golden Gate Ship Management, has been accused of transporting millions of barrels of Iranian petroleum products, including naphtha and condensate. At the same time, another ship Ramya, which is operated and managed by India’s Darya Shipping Private Limited. He is accused of transporting more than one lakh barrels of Iranian petroleum products since September 2025.

These ships are part of Iran’s shadow fleet

According to the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), all these ships are part of Iran’s so-called Shadow Fleet. The fleet exports Iranian oil through deceptive and fraudulent shipping practices, such as concealing the identities of ships, using shell companies, and disabling tracking systems.

Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John K. Hurley said the United States will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and will continue to take action to block petroleum revenues that fund its military and weapons programs.

According to Treasury, these restrictions were imposed under Executive Order 13902. Since President Trump took office, sanctions have been imposed on more than 180 ships, increasing the cost of Iranian oil exports and drastically reducing earnings per barrel.
