Trump’s big action, US canceled more than 1 lakh visas in 2025; Showed the way out to foreign students also
US Immigration News Hindi: As soon as Donald Trump assumed the presidency, a strict stance has been taken against foreign citizens in America. In the year 2025, the US State Department canceled more than one lakh visas in the name of strengthening national and public security, which is the largest figure till date.
According to official data of the Ministry of External Affairs, this number is more than double that of 2024. At the same time, during the tenure of former President Joe Biden, only about 40 thousand visas were canceled, which clearly indicates the strict policy of the Trump administration.
The punishment fell on students and workers
Not only ordinary tourists but also students and special category employees have come under the scanner of this big action. According to the data, visas of around 8,000 foreign students and 2,500 special category workers have been cancelled. According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, most of these people were those who had come face to face with US law enforcement agencies in criminal cases.
What was the reason behind visa cancellation?
There have been a number of reasons behind visa cancellations, including serious crimes involving alcohol and drugs. Especially in the cases of business and tourist visa holders, the biggest reason was their stay in America for more than the prescribed period and violation of visa rules.
🚨BREAKING: The State Department has now revoked over 100,000 visas, including some 8,000 student visas and 2,500 specialized visas for individuals who had encounters with US law enforcement for criminal activity.

Driving under the influence (DUI) charges were found in nearly 50 percent of cases among special category worker visa holders. And about 30 percent of the cases involved crimes like assault, assault or illegally confining a person. In the remaining 20 percent of the cases, serious allegations like theft, child abuse and fraud came to light.

At the same time, if we talk about student visa matters, then strictness was also seen in this where the visas of about 500 students were canceled due to their involvement in the possession of narcotics and their supply.
Keeping a close eye on 5.5 crore people
The Trump administration is not going to stop here. According to the announcement made in August 2025, about 55 million foreign nationals living in the US on valid visas will be reviewed. For this, a new “Continuous Waiting Center” has been created, which will keep a very strict vigil so that any security threat can be avoided in future. The State Department has given a clear warning that they will continue to deport criminals to keep America safe.
