Usman Tariq is an ordinary off-spinner, Indian batsmen will handle the challenge: Sourav Ganguly

New Delhi . Before the high-voltage T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has given a big statement about Pakistani off-spinner Usman Tariq. Ganguly described Tariq as an ordinary off-spinner and said that Indian batsmen know how to play him well and there will be no special problem in the match. India and Pakistan will face each other in the Group A match in Colombo on Sunday and Tariq remains the center of discussion before this match.

Ganguly said during the T20 World Cup magazine launch in Kolkata that it is not easy to predict anything in the T20 format, but the Indian team is balanced and strong. He clearly said that Tariq throws the ball with a slight pause in his delivery stride, but this is not a mysterious style that is difficult to understand. Dada believes that the Indian batsmen are used to this kind of bowling and will handle it.

28-year-old Tariq has played only four T20 International matches so far, in which he has taken 11 wickets. Although the statistics look impressive, the pressure of an India-Pakistan match is on a different level. Ganguly believes that experience plays an important role on the big stage and Indian players know how to handle this pressure better. He expressed confidence that India will perform well and maintain the lead in the competition.

Comparing the current Pakistan team, Ganguly said that this team is not as strong as before. He said that when the team had great players like Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yousuf, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, then the Pakistan team was of a different level. That edge is not visible in the current team. According to him, India should enter the field with confidence.

  • Ganguly also gave his opinion on the bowling combination. He said that the team should enter without any changes and maintain faith in the main bowlers. According to him, responsibility should be given to Axar Patel, Varun Chakraborty, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. He also said that it is important to maintain batting balance and avoid unnecessary changes in the team combination.

So far, eight matches have been played between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, out of which India has won seven, while Pakistan has won only one. In such a situation, the figures also appear to be in favor of India. Although T20 cricket is a game of uncertainties, Ganguly’s statement has definitely boosted the confidence of Indian fans. Now all eyes will be on whether Usman Tariq can handle the pressure of the big stage or whether the Indian batsmen play openly against him.
