New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. According to a report, Putin has expressed his condolences in a condolence message sent to Indian President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Manmohan Singh died at the age of 92 at AIIMS, New Delhi. During his tenure as Prime Minister, he attached great importance to India-Russia relations and participated in bilateral summits with Putin several times.
Putin praised Manmohan Singh's contribution
Putin said of Manmohan Singh that he was an outstanding statesman and played an important role in India's economic development and promoting its interests on the global stage. He made significant contributions in strengthening the friendly relations between India and Russia, resulting in raising the strategic partnership between the two countries to a special level.
Putin expressed condolences
Putin said in his condolence message that he had the opportunity to talk to Manmohan Singh several times. He said, “We will always cherish his memory. I express my deepest condolences and support to his family, friends and all citizens of India.
Manmohan Singh's contribution to India-Russia relations
Manmohan Singh, who was the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014, gave importance to India-Russia relations during his tenure and visited Russia nine times. In 2013, he was given an honorary doctorate by the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
