Utkarsh Sharma reveals why people do not recognise him from ‘Gadar 2’: ‘Shocked hun…’ – Exclusive

Utkarsh Sharma, aka, ‘Jeete’ from ‘Gadar 2’ recently revealed that people do not really recognise him from the blockbuster. Read on to know his take on nepotism, his relation with father and more.

Familial bonds are complicated yet run deep. In the fast paced world, we need to take it slow with our families, our parents. Touching similar themes of love, family, emotions and complications, Nana Patekar, Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur are here with their film ‘Vanvaas’ directed by Anil Sharma. Being born with a silver spoon is not a choice. In the industry, every star kid is subjected to the debate of nepotism. In an exclusive conversation with India.com, Utkarsh Sharma talks about nepotism, his relationship with his father and recalls how people recognise him.

Anil Sharma’s son Utkarsh Sharma is known for his cult classic character ‘Jeete’ from ‘Gadar and Gadar 2’. After the blockbuster ‘Gadar 2’, Sharma is once again working with his father. With a starkid on screen the ‘N’ word is never far away. When asked about how Sharma deals with it, he says, “See mera ek hi toolkit hai ki mai acting kis reason se aya. Mai aya because I fell in love with the work. I was able to let my heart out… I found a way of communicating with the world. When I decided to be an actor I asked myself do I want to do this when I am hundred years old, the answer was a resounding yes…So, starkids and all these things I am not bothered by it. Stars sabka fade hota that is the only constant. You have to go through the changes and love the work.”

Utkarsh Sharma on Grandeur of 'Gadar'

“My relationship with my father is very good like any father and son. I don’t even have to share things with him he just knows it. I have worked with him a lot professionally so I know his quirks, what he needs at times. Kai baar kya hota hai ki we don’t need to discuss much on set, bahut kam mujhe papa guidance dete hain. Mujhe as an actor respect dete hai, creative freedom dete hain. But he also ends up giving me a lot more work sometimes. I got no extra van whatever, we share the same van. Ussi mai sab ajate hain. Koi investor agaya, koi interview lene agaya or mai wahin ready ho raha hu. I do tend to get little less privileges as such.”

Speaking on how grandeur of  ‘Jeete’ may overshadow his future work, “No I don’t think so. It is my duty as actor to make the audience feel that each character is different from the other. If people only see me as that then somewhere I am making that mistake. Han thike who ek badhi film hai use jo naam mila hai who dusri film uss level ki chale.”

Further, he recalled how it is often not recognized from 'Gadar'. “There is a fact and I myself am shocked by this. When I was doing city tours, I went to college and people knew me more form Genius than Gadar 2. Kids know me more form Genius than Gadar 2. I personally got shocked. “People have seen so much on TV OTT.”

While ‘Gadar 3’ is underworks, Sharma says it will be less than 22 years this time, hopefully. He will be currently be seen alongside Nana Patekar  in ‘Vanvaas’.
