Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2026: Yogi Adityanath to Inaugurate Event Showcasing Over 800 Mango Varieties

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival in Lucknow today as part of an initiative to promote the state’s mango heritage, horticulture, and agricultural produce at the global level. More than 800 varieties of mangoes from different districts of the state will be displayed at the event.

The festival aims to showcase the diversity of mango varieties while connecting farmers, orchard owners, and producers with national and international markets.

Uttar Pradesh is among the country’s largest mango-producing states. The state cultivates several well-known varieties, including Dasheri, Langra, Chausa, Safeda, Amrapali, Mallika, Ramkela, and Fazli. Different climatic conditions and soil types across the state have contributed to the development of hundreds of traditional and improved mango varieties.

This year’s festival will feature more than 800 mango varieties, including traditional, rare, research institute-developed, and commercially popular cultivars. Visitors will have an opportunity to observe the colour, size, taste, aroma, and characteristics of different varieties at one venue. Horticulture experts will also provide information on the characteristics of various mango varieties and their cultivation techniques.

A key objective of the festival is to improve market access for mango producers in the state. Buyers, exporters, agricultural experts, representatives of the food processing industry, and members of trade organizations from India and abroad may participate in the event.

The festival is expected to provide farmers and producers with an opportunity to present their products directly to potential buyers. It is also expected that the platform will facilitate commercial agreements and new business contacts.

The event will also showcase a range of value-added mango products, including mango pulp, juice, pickles, jam, squash, candy, dried mango products, and other processed food items. The objective is to inform farmers that income can be increased not only through the sale of fresh fruit but also through processing.

Experts believe that improved marketing, modern packaging, cold chain infrastructure, export facilities, and quality processing can further strengthen the international presence of Uttar Pradesh mangoes. Technical sessions, discussions, and expert lectures on these subjects are also expected to be organized during the festival.

The state government aims to increase farmers’ income by integrating modern technologies into the horticulture sector. Producers will also receive information on new cultivation techniques, disease management, organic production, export standards, and quality control, helping small and medium-scale orchard owners produce in line with global market requirements.

Along with exhibitions of renowned mango varieties from different districts, the festival will feature tasting sessions, competitions, and awareness programs for visitors. These activities are intended to provide information about Uttar Pradesh’s horticultural heritage and mango biodiversity.

Agriculture and horticulture experts say such events help reduce the gap between farmers and markets by enabling producers to interact directly with buyers, exporters, and industry representatives, improving opportunities for better prices and greater awareness of new technologies and market demand.

The festival, inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is being presented as an initiative to promote Uttar Pradesh’s horticultural potential, mango production, and agriculture-based enterprises. The government expects the event to provide economic benefits to mango producers while further strengthening the recognition of Uttar Pradesh mangoes at the national and international levels.
