Dehradun: State government has decided to constitute a committee, accommodating financial and technical experts, to improve the functioning of Vigilance Establishment. The committee will look for the ways to make the Vigilance Establishment effective in the state.
This was announced by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at a function organized on the premises of the Vigilance Establishment Directorate in Kargi Grant area of the city. The Vigilance Establishment Directorate on Monday started Vigilance Awareness Week and Training Camp.
“Vigilance Awareness Week” begins
Speaking on this occasion, CM Dhami said “Vigilance Awareness Week” is organized every year on the birth anniversary of the country’s iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with an aim to make public administration transparent and accountable. He hoped that everyone will achieve the aim behind the “Vigilance Awareness Week”.
CM underlines need for improving culture of integrity
CM underlined the need for making people aware about their rights. It will be helpful in making the public administration accountable and transparent, he added. According to him, it is necessary to work with honesty, truth, accountability, and transparency to develop the culture of integrity. He also directed to include the officers, who have expertise in this field, in the “Vigilance Awareness Week”.
E-governance system helps maintain transparency in government process
Reminding people about PM Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a developed country by 2047, he said his government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. He said PM Modi has worked in the direction of eliminating corruption with the help of demonetization, GST and DBT system. The E-governance system, started under the leadership of PM Modi, has helped in maintaining the transparency in the government process.
Action against 75 persons
V Murugesan, who is director, Vigilance, informed the gathering that the department received 7800 complaints after the release of toll-free number 1064. In the last year, the Vigilance department has initiated action against 75 persons.
Top officers attend the function
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, additional chief secretary Anand Vardhan, home secretary Shailesh Bagoli, additional director general of police Amit Sinha, additional director general of police A P Anshuman and other senior officers were present at the function.
