Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has completed its four-year tenure under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The government has presented these four years as ‘Uttarakhand Model’ giving development, confidence and a new direction. During this period, the state took several historic decisions that made headlines at the national level, the most prominent of which was the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to do so.
To restore transparency in governance and the confidence of the youth, the Dhami government implemented a strict anti-copying law, after which the recruitment processes accelerated. According to government data, more than 32 thousand youth have been given government jobs in the last four years. Apart from this, the government also counts strong land law and anti-conversion law as among its major achievements.

The government claims that out of this, investment of more than ₹ 1 lakh crore has already materialized. The state has got the status of ‘leader’ in the startup ecosystem and the number of MSMEs has increased to about 80 thousand, which has created new employment opportunities.
New impetus to tourism and infrastructure
Tourism and religious faith are an important pillar of the economy of Uttarakhand. The number of tourists visiting the state has created new records in the last few years. Record number of devotees arrived in Chardham Yatra and Kanwar Yatra. Development work is going on at a fast pace under the master plan in Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham. The government has also started initiatives like Manaskhand Temple Mala Mission and Winter Yatra to keep tourism active throughout the year.
Many big projects are underway to improve connectivity. These include Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Project, Delhi-Dehradun Elevated Road and various ropeway projects. Heli services have also expanded rapidly in the state.
Social Security and Women Empowerment
Atal Ayushman Yojana has proved to be a major initiative in the field of health, under which 61 lakh cards were made and free treatment worth more than ₹3400 crore was provided to more than 17 lakh patients. Steps have been taken towards women empowerment like 30 percent reservation in government jobs and making more than 2.5 lakh women self-reliant through ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme.
“Our resolve is not just development, but holistic and balanced development. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are continuously working towards making Uttarakhand a great state. Uttarakhand will play an important role in the goal of Developed India @ 2047.” – Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister
In the agriculture sector too, efforts are being made to take local products to the national and international markets through Millets Policy, Kiwi Policy and ‘House of Himalayas’ brand. Overall, the Dhami government is considering these four years as a transformational period for Uttarakhand, which is an important link in realizing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Developed India’.
