Vada Pav is a simple yet delicious recipe that can be prepared in just a few minutes, you just need all the ingredients to make this recipe. Here's how you can make this dish with some ingredients easily available in your kitchen. Take a pan and heat some oil in it and add mustard seeds in it. When the mustard seeds start crackling, add asafoetida and curry leaves and fry for a few seconds. Step 2
Then add grated garlic, chopped green chillies and fry the ingredients for a few seconds. Then, add potatoes, turmeric powder and salt and mix well. Keep aside to cool. If you want to reduce the cooking time, soak the potatoes in lukewarm water and prick the peeled potatoes with a fork, this will soften the potatoes. step 3
Meanwhile, make a batter by mixing gram flour, turmeric, baking soda and some water (about 1/3 cup). When the potato mixture cools down, make 8 tikkis of equal size. You can give it any shape you want, in Maharashtra vada is mostly made in round shape. step 4
Then take a shallow frying pan and heat oil. When the oil is hot enough, dip each tikki/vada in the batter and then slowly drop into the hot oil. Fry all 8 tikkis in hot oil until golden brown. Take out on absorbent paper and keep aside. Cut each loaf in half and place one vada in each loaf. Add some green chutney, spices and fried homemade chillies to your vada pav to enhance the taste.
