Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vs Meghalaya: In the plate group match of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26, young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar once again caught everyone’s attention with his explosive batting. Vaibhav opened the innings for Bihar in the match played against Meghalaya at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Monday (29 December) and scored 31 runs in just 10 balls. During this, he hit 6 fours and 1 six and batted at a strike rate of 310.00.

However, despite a great start, 14-year-old Vaibhav could not give a big score to his innings. Chasing the target of 218 runs, Akash Kumar got Dipu caught on the first ball of the fifth over and sent him to the pavilion. There were a lot of expectations from Vaibhav in this match, but once again he was limited to short but quick innings.

Played an inning of 190 runs against Arunachal Pradesh

Earlier, Vaibhav Suryavanshi had played a historic innings against Arunachal Pradesh in the opening match of the tournament. He scored 190 runs in just 84 balls and played an important role in giving Bihar a record win of 397 runs. In that match, Vaibhav completed his century in 36 balls, which is the fourth fastest List-A century by an Indian batsman. At the same time, by scoring 150 runs in 59 balls, he also made the world record of scoring the fastest 150 runs in List-A cricket, thereby breaking the record of AB de Villiers.

Vaibhav will not play the remaining matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, is also the youngest batsman in the world to score a century in List-A cricket. However, due to national duty, his chances of playing for Bihar in the remaining Vijay Hazare Trophy matches are very less.

Actually, on Saturday (December 27), Vaibhav has been included in India’s Under-19 World Cup team. Apart from this, he will also take part in the three-match Youth ODI series to be held on South Africa tour. In the absence of Ayush Mhatre, Vaibhav will captain the India Under-19 team in this series. Ayush Mhatre and his deputy Vihaan Malhotra are out of this series due to a wrist injury, although both will be seen playing in the U19 World Cup.
