Rising star of Indian cricket Vaibhav Suryavanshi has got a place in Team India for the tour of Ireland and England. If the 15-year-old batsman gets a chance to debut, he will become India’s youngest debutant by breaking the 37-year-old record of Sachin Tendulkar, who played international cricket at the age of 16 years and 205 days.

At the age of just 15, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has got a place in the Indian team for the tour of Ireland, England and Asian Games 2026. On the basis of his talent and consistent performance, this young batsman from Bihar has achieved a position about which most players only dream.

With the selection of Vaibhav, a new record is also going to be registered in the history of Indian cricket. If he gets a chance to debut against Ireland on June 26, he will become the youngest player to play international cricket for India at the age of 15 years and 180 days. In this way, he will also break the 37-year-old record of Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut for Team India at the age of 16 years and 205 days.

In the year 1989, Sachin Tendulkar made his international debut against Pakistan in Karachi. At that time his age was 16 years 205 days and he had faced legendary bowlers like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan. But now Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is close to taking the field for the Indian team at an even younger age. If he gets a chance in the first T20 match against Ireland, he will become India’s youngest international cricketer and Sachin’s 37-year-old record will become history.

Ajit Agarkar told the reason for selection

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar praised Vaibhav (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi) heavily during the team announcement. He said that the performance of the young batsman forced the selectors to include him in the team. According to Agarkar, the way Vaibhav has performed in two consecutive IPL seasons and Under-19 cricket has impressed everyone. The selectors believe that he has the potential to succeed at the big level and he can prove to be an important player for Indian cricket in the times to come.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi performed so well with his bat in IPL 2026 that it became almost impossible to ignore him. The young batsman scored 776 runs in the entire season and his strike rate was 237.30. He also scored a century, despite falling victim to the nervous nineties thrice. His aggressive batting and ability to play big shots has made him the next big superstar of Indian cricket. This was the reason why the selectors decided to give him a chance directly in the senior team.

When will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi debut?

The Indian team will play two T20 matches against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and 28, after which a five-match T20 series will be played against England. Before this, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be a part of the India-A team in the triangular series to be held in Sri Lanka from June 9 to 21. However, everyone’s eyes are fixed on June 26, because on the same day Vaibhav can create history by debuting for the Indian team. If this happens then it will be considered the beginning of a new era in Indian cricket.
