Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: IPL record… Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is not satisfied even with his entry in Team India, said – not to play, want to rule for 10-20 years
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi interview: Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already achieved such milestones that most cricketers would have spent their entire careers behind. He made a splash in the IPL, breaking into the Indian team at the age of 15 and becoming one of the most sought-after young players in world cricket. Yet the Rajasthan Royals batsman believes that what he wants to achieve is just the beginning.
In an interview released on the social media channel of Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi spoke about the goal that drives him forward. 15 year old Vaibhav made it clear that his aim is not just to play cricket for a long time. He wants to rule this game for years.

‘I think of finishing the match alone’
Talking about his goal, Suryavanshi said that he wanted to play every match with the mindset of being a player who can finish the game single-handedly. Vaibhav said, ‘Whenever I play cricket, for the next 20 years, for as many days as I play, as long as God gives me a chance, for the country, for any franchise, for any team, I should play in such a way that when people watch the match, they say that there is a player who whenever he plays, he will single-handedly finish the match.’ Be it attacking some of the best bowlers in the world right from the first ball or maintaining an ultra-aggressive scoring rate throughout the IPL season, Suryavanshi consistently played with a fearlessness rarely seen in a player of his age.
Don’t just play, dominate: Suryavanshi
This left-handed batsman said that dominating is the ultimate objective of his every day hard work. It’s not just that the game is played and the game is over. We have to play in such a way that we don’t just play, we have to dominate for 10 years, 20 years and play good cricket. (Dominance is what I’m working hard for. I’m not going to play just for the sake of playing. I want to play for maybe 10 or 20 years and dominate the game for that long)
The Rajasthan Royals opener finished the season with 776 runs, won the Orange Cap, won the MVP award and broke the record for most sixes hit in an IPL season with 72 sixes, surpassing Chris Gayle. His performance also got him entry in Team India.
For many cricketers, longevity is a dream. For Suryavanshi, longevity seems to be the least hope. The bigger objective is to remain one of the best-known players of his generation as long as he is on the field.
Despite the growing spotlight around him, Vaibhav said he still looks at cricket in the same light that first attracted him to the game. Vaibhav said, ‘I started cricket to enjoy. May I enjoy lifetime and play well.
