Vaibhav Suryavanshi honored with Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award by President Murmu

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was honored by the President: India’s 14-year-old star cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi was honored with the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award by the President of India Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi today. Vaibhav was awarded India’s highest civilian award (for ages 5-18), which is given annually for exceptional achievements in the fields of bravery, arts and culture, environment, innovation, science and technology, social service and sports.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was given this honor in a program organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan. For this reason, Vaibhav could not even attend Bihar’s Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Manipur today. The teenage cricketer was called to Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7 am for the ceremony, where the remaining 19 children were also honored for their significant contribution in their fields. Let us tell you that Vaibhav is continuously creating havoc with his bat. He recently became the youngest batsman to score a century in List A cricket. At the age of 14 years and 272 days, Vaibhav scored a century in 36 balls while playing for Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh on the first day of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy on Wednesday.

Suryavanshi, who is set to play in India’s Under-19 World Cup campaign in Zimbabwe and Namibia, had scored 171 off 95 balls in the Under-19 Asia Cup in the UAE earlier this month. During that innings, he fell just six runs short of Ambati Rayudu’s long-standing India record in youth ODIs – 177 against England at Taunton in 2002. In 15 Youth ODIs, Suryavanshi averages 51.13, including two centuries and three half-centuries, and has an impressive strike rate of 158.79.

Last month in Doha, Suryavanshi scored the joint-third fastest century by an Indian in men’s T20 when he scored 144 off 42 balls against UAE in the Rising Stars Asia Cup. He completed his century that day in 32 balls, and in the process recorded the joint-sixth fastest century in all men’s T20Is. Soon after that tournament, Suryavanshi also became the youngest century-scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy when he scored an unbeaten 108 off 61 balls against Maharashtra in Kolkata earlier this month.

The year 2025 has been very good for Suryavanshi. After becoming the youngest player in the IPL auction at the age of 13, he became the youngest player to score a century (101 off 38 balls) in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans. Suryavanshi played a total of seven games, in which he scored 252 runs at a strike rate of 206.55. After the IPL, Suryavanshi scored youth centuries in England and Australia; The tour of England was particularly beneficial for him as he scored 355 runs at a strike rate of 174.01.
