Vaibhav Suryavanshi will not play the remaining matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy to prepare for the U19 World Cup.
Talented 14-year-old player Vaibhav Suryavanshi will miss the remaining matches of Bihar’s Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 campaign, his childhood coach Manish Ojha confirmed on December 26, 2025.
The left-handed batsman scored **190 runs** (16 fours, 15 sixes) off 84 balls in Bihar’s first match against Arunachal Pradesh, helping the team score a world record List A score of 574/6. He became the youngest player to score a List A century (century in 36 balls) and also holds many youth records.
Suryavanshi had skipped Bihar’s match against Manipur on December 26 as he was receiving the **Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award**—India’s highest civilian honor for children—for outstanding performance in sports from President Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with the awardees.
After the ceremony, he will join the India U19 squad for the preparation camp and warm-up matches ahead of the **ICC U19 World Cup 2026** in Zimbabwe and Namibia (starting January 15). Ojha said: “He will not play the remaining matches… so that he can adjust to the team for the preparation matches.”
His absence is a big blow for Bihar in the plate group, where he is the backbone of the batting. Recently, he scored 171 runs against UAE in the first match of the U19 Asia Cup, although India lost to Pakistan in the final.
Suryavanshi’s rapid rise—including stellar IPL performances with Rajasthan Royals—makes him a future star who is balancing domestic and junior international responsibilities.
