Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s unsuccessful performance before Under-19 World Cup

ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 begins

New Delhi: The ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15. Before the tournament, all the teams are busy testing their preparations in practice matches. In this sequence, the Indian Under-19 team faced the England Under-19 team, where young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi could not live up to the expectations.

India won the toss and decided to bat

In this match, the Indian Under-19 team won the toss and decided to bat first. But this decision did not prove to be right for the team as the England bowlers put pressure on the Indian batsmen from the very beginning. Team’s key player Vaibhav Suryavanshi also could not bear this pressure.

Poor performance of Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Only 14 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was expected to have a big innings in this match, but he lost the wicket by scoring 1 run in only 4 balls. Vaibhav caught Thomas Rave off the ball of England bowler Sebastian Morgan, which is a matter of concern for the Indian team.

Disappointing game of other batsmen too

Apart from Vaibhav, other batsmen also could not perform well. Vedant Trivedi scored only 14 runs in 13 balls, while Vihaan Malhotra added just 10 runs. Due to continuous fall of wickets, the Indian innings came under pressure and the team failed to score big.

Captain Ayush Mhatre showed commitment

However, team captain Ayush Mhatre, playing with responsibility, scored 49 runs in 40 balls, which included 4 fours and 4 sixes. This innings of Ayush helped the team reach some respectable scores.

Vaibhav’s earlier performance is impressive

This is not the first time that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has come into the limelight. He had earlier played a brilliant innings of 96 runs against Scotland, while against South Africa he had played two excellent innings of 127 and 68 runs. Whenever Vaibhav bats, the hopes of the Indian team’s victory increase.
