Mythological significance of Vaikuntha Ekadashi

Let us tell you that according to mythology, King Vaikhanas of Gokul Nagar freed his father from the tortures of hell by fasting on Vaikuntha Ekadashi. One night the king saw his father suffering the tortures of hell in his dream. He asked the Brahmins for a solution, who advised him to go to the mountain sage. Parvat Rishi asked the king to observe Vaikuntha Ekadashi fast and dedicate the virtue of the fast to his father. Due to the effect of the fast, the king's father was freed from hell and appeared before going to heaven.

• Take a resolution to fast after morning bath.
• Light a lamp in front of the picture or idol of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu.
• Worship Lord Vishnu with Tulsi leaves, flowers and Panchamrit.
• Recite Shri Vishnu Sahastranam.
• Do night vigil and bhajan-kirtan.
