Valentine’s Day on 14th February is such a special occasion where every person wants to spend this day with their special one. A day of expression of love when people express their feelings to their partners. This Valentine’s Day, we brought the love stories of those Bollywood celebs, some of which remained incomplete and some were completed. Raj Kapoor and Nargis
Raj Kapoor, known as the ‘Showman of Bollywood’, and Nargis met in the late 1940s when Nargis came to work at Raj’s mother’s house. Both of them worked together in many films from ‘Aag’ (1948) to ‘Shree 420’ (1955). Their relationship was deep, Raj considered Nargis as his inspiration, but Raj was already married to Krishna and the father of three children. Nargis waited 9 years in the hope of marriage, but Raj could not leave his wife. Finally Nargis married Sunil Dutt.
Dilip Kumar and Madhubala
The love story of Dilip Kumar and Madhubala started during the shooting of ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ (1960). Both were deeply in love, Dilip even proposed to Madhubala. But Madhubala’s father Ataullah Khan opposed, because he did not like Dilip. A court case related to the film ‘Naya Daur’ created a rift in the relationship. Madhubala married Kishore Kumar but her life was not happy. Dilip Kumar had married Saira Banu. Madhubala, who was suffering from heart disease and after getting married, spent half of her life alone and in loneliness, said goodbye to this world at the age of 35.
Dev Anand and Suraiya
Dev Anand and Suraiya met on the sets of ‘Vidya’ (1948) in the 1940s. Suraiya was a singing star, and Dev was a rising hero. Both of them worked together in many films, like ‘Jeet’ (1949). They even got engaged secretly, but Suraiya’s grandmother, who was a Muslim, opposed the marriage with a Hindu god. The family confined Suraiya to the house, and the relationship broke down. Suraiya never married, Dev married Kalpana Karthik.
Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha
Amitabh and Rekha’s chemistry started with ‘Do Anjaane’ (1976), but reached its peak in ‘Silsila’ (1981). Amitabh was already married to Jaya Bachchan. Rekha hoped to marry Amitabh, but Amitabh could not leave the family. There were rumors that even after being widowed, Rekha applied vermillion which was given the name of Amitabh. Rekha herself has mentioned many times that she was in love with Amitabh. But after Amitabh went into politics, she started moving away from him and this romantic relationship came to an end.
Guru Dutt and Waheeda Rehman
Waheeda Rehman and Guru Dutt met in Hyderabad in the year 1955. Waheed worked in ‘CID’ directed by Guru Dutt. Waheeda started considering Guru as her mentor. Both grew closer but Guru was married and so were his children. A time came when Guru’s wife Geeta Dutt asked him to choose between his wife and his girlfriend. Guru was helpless and he chose his wife Geeta, after which Waheeda backed out of the relationship. The Guru could not bear it and drowned himself in alcohol addiction. Guru became so lonely in his life that he committed suicide at the age of 39. Which was a big blow for Waheeda which left her shocked.
Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai
Salman and Aishwarya’s love story started on the sets of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999). Both came close, but Salman’s possessive nature and alleged violence spoiled the relationship. The breakup happened in 2002, Aishwarya accused Salman of mental harassment. Moving forward in her career, Aishwarya married Abhishek Bachchan, Salman is still single.
Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone
Ranbir and Deepika met on the sets of ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ (2008), but their romance was at its peak in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ (2013). Both of them dated for 2 years, Ranbir also got Deepika’s name tattooed. But rumors of Ranbir having affairs with Katrina Kaif broke the relationship. Deepika married Ranveer Singh, Ranbir married Alia Bhatt.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma
Virat and Anushka met in 2013 at the shoot of a shampoo ad. Virat cricketer, Anushka actress. The two dated secretly, and married in Italy in 2017. Have two children (Vamika and Akay). Virat says Anushka gave him balance. Their relationship is an inspiration on social media. However, before Virat, Anushka was in a relationship with Ranveer Singh.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
Priyanka and Nick met at the Met Gala in 2017, Nick is an American singer. Priyanka is ten years older than Nick. This couple got married in Rajasthan in 2018. It was a Hindu-Christian wedding. Both of them have a daughter Malti. Priyanka says Nick is her support system. There were rumors that Priyanka was once in a relationship with superstar Shahrukh Khan. But both never confirmed.
Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan
Shahrukh and Gauri met at a party in Delhi in 1984, when Shahrukh was 19 years old. Gauri was Hindu, Shahrukh Muslim, so the families protested. Shahrukh followed Gauri to Mumbai to convince her. In 1991, they had a court marriage, then married according to Hindu and Muslim customs. Have three children, and have been together for 30+ years. Shahrukh says Gauri is his strength.
