Vance leaves for Pakistan to attend peace talks, ‘if any…’, warns Iran
US Vice President JD Vance left for Pakistan on Friday to attend a high-level meeting on ceasefire. He also expressed that he is optimistic about the peace meeting. But before leaving, Vance warned Iran.
The US vice president said that day, “We are eager and hopeful for talks. If Iran meets in good faith, we are certainly ready to extend a helping hand to them. But if they try to deceive us, the outcome will not be good.” He added, “President Donald Trump has given us some very clear guidelines. We will follow them. Let’s see what happens!” In addition to Vance, the delegation reportedly includes top US government officials such as Steve Wittkoff and Jared Kushner. Incidentally, Iran’s President Masoud Pezheskian confirmed this discussion after speaking on the phone with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. It is known that the Iranian delegation will be led by the Speaker of the Parliament of that country, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Now let’s see if there is any permanent solution to the ceasefire in this meeting.
Meanwhile, before the Iran-US meeting, the whole of Islamabad has been wrapped in a blanket of security. Thousands of police and jawans have been deployed. Not only that, schools, colleges and markets have been temporarily closed. It is learned that private vehicles have been banned in the ‘red zone’ areas, i.e. where Parliament, important government offices, luxury hotels and embassies are located. A number of check points have been set up across the city to ensure smooth movement of delegates from the two countries. Armed police force will be present there 24 hours. Traffic in the entire city has also been controlled. Thursday and Friday have also been officially declared as holidays in Islamabad by the Government of Pakistan.
