Miscreants entered ‘Sagan Mansion’, a prestigious historical building here, and destroyed the sacred idols of Lord Krishna and Gopis. The vandalism in this pre-independence era building built in 1937 has deeply shocked the minority Hindu community living in Pakistan. Hindu activists have termed this incident as a direct attack on the multicultural heritage of Pakistan. Orgy at midnight in Sagan Mason building, damage to historical heritage. President of Pakistan Darwar Ittehad and prominent Hindu social activist Shiv Kachhi has expressed deep anger while giving information about this incident. He told that this shameful act was committed two days ago. The attackers targeted valuable statues and religious symbols inside the historic Sagan Mason building. Sharing his anguish on social media, Kutchi said, “This is not just the damage to a physical structure, but it is an attack on the religious harmony of Pakistan and the sentiments of our community.” Attack on the heritage of 1937: Is the history of Hindus safe? Sagan Mason is not just a building, but a living testimony of the history of undivided India. It was constructed in the year 1937 and since then it has been an important center of faith for the Hindu community. The sculptures and religious icons kept here are unique examples of ancient art and culture. Experts say that targeting such historical buildings could be part of a well-planned conspiracy to erase the existence of minorities and their history in Pakistan. Hindu community’s demand: The culprits should be given strict punishment and renovation should be done. After this incident, there is huge anger in the Hindu community of Karachi. Shiv Kachhi and other social organizations have demanded from the Pakistan government that a high-level investigation should be conducted into this matter. He said, “The culprits should be arrested without any delay and they should be given severe punishment which will serve as an example for others.” Along with this, he has demanded that this historical building should be renovated immediately and strong security arrangements should be made for its conservation. Pakistan again exposed on the international stage, India raised sharp questions. This is not the first case of attacks on Hindus and their temples in Pakistan. From Sindh province to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the faith of minorities is hurt every day. India has repeatedly cornered Pakistan on this issue in many international forums including the United Nations (UN). Indian diplomats have exposed human rights violations and religious intolerance in Pakistan with evidence before the global community. After this latest incident, Pakistan’s claims of ‘minority protection’ have once again been exposed.
