Vande Bharat Sleeper train dispatched for loaded simulation trial

New Delhi: Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways of India, tweeted that the Vande Bharat sleeper train has been dispatched from Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai for a loaded simulation trial. The new Indian Railways train, manufactured by BEML Limited in collaboration with ICF, has been undergoing quality and standard checks at ICF for two months.

Where will the Vande Bharat Sleeper train trial happen?

According to media reports, the train was to be launched in January because of the trial delay. The train left the Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), and the trial will happen in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh.

According to ET Now, the Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) in Lucknow will conduct trial runs for the new train. A senior railway official confirmed that several trial runs will be conducted before the train begins commercial service. The official mentioned that the trial runs will reach 130 km/h speeds in the Jhansi Division and 180 km/h in the Kota Division.

What is a loaded simulation?

Loaded simulation in railways tests how trains move under different conditions. These conditions include various loads, types of tracks, and weather. This simulation helps train operators understand their train’s limits and how to operate safely. Here are some examples of loaded simulation in railways:

Load simulation for traction motors

This method analyses a traction motor’s features and controls the propulsion system without testing the actual vehicle.

Simulation of daily load curves

This method creates graphs showing how trains move at traction substations on an electric railway.

Modelling of long-term train loads

This method examines how train loads affect the soil under the tracks. It uses computer simulations of railway track sections. This includes choosing a model and inputting initial data for the different layers of the track.

Deadlock prevention

This method uses recorded deadlocks from a past simulation as an extra file. This helps the rail signal system by adding checks to stop deadlocks from happening.

What is Vande Bharat sleeper?

Vande Bharat is a sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat chair car trains. According to the Indian Railways, sleeper trains will offer superior ride comfort compared to the premium Rajdhani Express trains.

The Vande Bharat will have a top speed of 160 kmph and a higher average speed. The sleeper will aim to revolutionise overnight travel on the Indian Railways network.

What are the features of Vande Bharat Sleeper?

The Vande Bharat Sleeper train has 16 coaches, including 11 AC 3-Tier Berths, 4 AC 2-Tier Berths, and 1 First Class AC Berth. A total of 823 passengers can travel on the Vande Sleeper train. The capacity breakdown is as follows: Third AC has 611 berths, Second AC has 188 berths, and First Class AC has 24 berths.
