Varanasi: Action against Principal in UP College student murder case, ban on taking charge till investigation is completed

Varanasi, 21 March. There is tension in the college campus after the murder of a student in broad daylight firing on Friday in Uday Pratap Autonomous College, Varanasi. Angered by the incident, students protested on Saturday and submitted their five-point demand to the district administration.

The students’ delegation demanded from the administration financial compensation to the family of deceased student Surya Pratap Singh, government job to one member, and removal of college principal Professor Dharmendra Kumar Singh from the post till the investigation of the incident is completed. Apart from this, the students alleged that there was indecency and lathicharge by the police during the demonstration, and also demanded the removal of the officers responsible.

Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari talked to student leader Akash Patel in this matter, on which assurance was given to remove the concerned officials within 24 hours. Meanwhile, ADM Alok Verma, after talking to the District Officer, clarified that the Principal will not take charge of his post until the investigation is completed. The fifth demand of the students calls for strict punitive action against all the culprits involved in the incident. The administration has assured of action on all the demands.

Students’ strike postponed after assurance of action

Meanwhile, ADCP Neetu Kadyan said that the talks between the students and the police administration were positive. The memorandum submitted by the students includes five demands on which action has been assured. After the assurance of action, the students have postponed their strike for the time being, so that the upcoming ARO examination can be conducted peacefully.

Main murder accused Manjeet gets judicial custody for 14 days

It is noteworthy that a few hours after the murder of Surya Singh in the college campus on Friday, late in the evening, the main murderer, Manjeet Singh Chauhan, a college student, was arrested, who after being produced in the court today, was sent to jail for 14 days judicial custody. Manjeet’s associate, another accused student Anuj Singh Thakur is still absconding, in search of whom six police teams are continuously raiding.
