Court gives blow to Hindu side in Gyanvapi case, petition demanding additional ASI survey rejected

Lucknow: The Hindu parties in Varanasi's Gyanvapi Masjid dispute case have received a setback from the court. On Friday, Varanasi District Court, while hearing the hearing, rejected the petition of the Hindu side for conducting additional ASI survey. Today the Varanasi District Court has given its verdict on the case pending for almost 33 years.

It has been claimed by Hindu parties that a 100-foot Shivalinga is present beneath the main dome of Gyanvapi. Due to which a petition was filed demanding excavation of the remaining site of the complex and an ASI survey. At the same time, the Muslim side has opposed the excavation. This case is related to the suit filed by Somnath Vyas in 1991.

Let us tell you that Gyanvapi Mosque is situated next to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, which is adjacent to the Ganga Ghat. This mosque is being described by Hindus as an ancient temple of Lord Shiva. The Muslim side says that this is a mosque.

What happened in the case so far

The Gyanvapi case became famous in the month of August last year when a woman from Delhi, Rakhi Singh, filed a petition in the court along with four other women for permission to worship Shringar Gauri and some other deities in the premises of the Gyanvapi Mosque. This petition claimed that Shringaar Gauri and some other deities are present in plot number 9130, which is not disputed. Along with this, the matter should be resolved by conducting a survey of the mosque as demanded in the petition.

After 8 months of the petition, the lower court of Varanasi ordered to conduct survey with videography. After this, the Gyanvapi controversy became a topic of discussion in the entire country. However, some people from the local Muslim community also expressed their opposition to it. Not only this, the mosque management (committee that takes care of the mosque) appealed to the High Court to stay the order of the lower court, but the High Court upheld the decision of the lower court and refused to stay the survey.

During the survey of the mosque, a figure was found in the Vajukhana, which is being claimed to be Shivalinga. Its shape is also quite similar to Shivalinga. After which the mosque was sealed. However, later the Supreme Court ordered continuation of Namaz in the mosque. After which the local people are offering Namaz again in the mosque.
