S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi is considered to be one of the most awaited Indian films in recent times. The film will feature Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. There is a lot of buzz about the film, especially since its first glimpse was shown at the trailer festival held at Europe’s most prestigious Le Grand Rex screen. The preview received an overwhelming response from the audience, where they were greeted with applause, cheers and whistles from the very first frame.

Meanwhile, the film also made its international appearance at the Comic Con Experience Mexico 2026, where producer S. S. Karthikeya gave information about building the world of real Varanasi. Producer S. S. Presenting Varanasi at Comic Con Experience Mexico 2026, Karthikeya said, “The beginning, middle and end of the story all take place in Varanasi. It is called the spiritual capital of India and is one of the oldest, still-inhabited cities in the world. Our director SS Rajamouli had in mind some grand sequences on the ghats of Varanasi, which were not easy to shoot on location. It was our responsibility as producers to make it possible. The production design team was sent to Varanasi to gather all the necessary details, measurements and photo references, and we built the Varanasi ghats brick by brick to fulfill their vision.”

Mahesh Babu’s powerful look as Rudra, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s intense first look as Kumbha, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ stunning avatar as Mandakini have already been revealed from Varanasi.
