Actor Varun Dhawan told that his daughter Lara had the problem of DDH (Hip Dysplasia), due to which one of her legs looked big and small and her gait became crooked. After being in ‘spica cast’ for two and a half months, he is fine now. Varun has advised other parents to keep a close eye on the development of their children.
Varun Dhawan Daughter Health: Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has recently made an emotional and shocking revelation about the health of his one and a half year old daughter, Lara. While talking in a podcast (‘Be A Man, Yaar!’), Varun told that his daughter was going through a serious condition due to which her legs appeared big and small and she had a lot of difficulty in walking. Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal became parents in the year 2024. Varun revealed that his daughter Lara was diagnosed with a disease called ‘Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip’ (DDH). Due to this disease, the girl’s hip would come out of its socket, due to which the balance of her body was disturbed.
What was your daughter’s problem?
Varun told that when Lara was about one and a half years old, he noticed something unusual in her gait. Due to the hip joint not being in the right place, one leg of Lara started looking smaller and bigger than the other. Due to this imbalance she was not able to walk or run properly. Varun said, “Her walk had become crooked and she was not able to move like normal children.”

The fortunate thing is that this disease was detected at the right time. Doctors fit the hip back into the socket through a special procedure without surgery. After the procedure, Lara had to live in a heavy plaster (cast), from waist to legs, for about two and a half months. Varun shared that giving anesthesia to a little girl and then her regaining consciousness in a heavy cast was an extremely traumatic experience for the entire family.
Varun wants to write a book
Varun said that there is very little awareness about this disease in India, whereas in foreign countries it is tested at the time of birth. Varun says he wants to write a book on this so that other parents can be educated. He appealed to the parents to keep a close eye on their children’s gait, sitting posture or length of legs. If anything seems unusual, consult a doctor immediately.
How is Lara’s health now?
It is a matter of relief for the fans that now Lara’s cast has been removed. She is recovering fast and is slowly starting to walk normally. Varun made it clear that he has shared this not for sympathy, but to spread information.
