Varun Dhawan’s ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ Returns to June 5

Varun Dhawan has confirmed that his anticipated romantic film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ will be released in theaters on June 5, 2026, reverting to its original release date after several changes.

The release date had shifted multiple times in recent weeks: originally scheduled for June 5, it was moved to June 12 following Yash’s announcement of ‘Toxic’ premiering on June 4. Subsequently, the film was preponed to May 22. With ‘Toxic’ now occupying a different release slot, Varun’s film has settled back on June 5.

Varun shared the update on Instagram, posting a new poster and expressing gratitude to Yash and Maddock Films for facilitating the schedule adjustment. In his caption, he wrote, “JUNE 5TH 2026 in theatres. Thankful to @thenameisyash and @maddockfilms for helping us reset the calendar as our film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai will now release on its original date. The first film to release post IPL.”

The announcement generated enthusiasm online, with fans responding in the comments section with remarks such as “Damn excited,” “Good decision,” and offering early wishes for the film’s success.

This project is of particular importance to Varun as it represents another collaboration with his father, veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, who is returning to direct after six years. His last film was Coolie No. 1, which also starred Varun alongside Sara Ali Khan.

There is additional emotional significance, as David Dhawan recently indicated that this might be his final film as a director. In an earlier interview with ANI, he mentioned potential retirement due to health reasons, joking that he would thereafter be “Varun’s father.”

For Varun, the film marks a return to the romantic-comedy genre, which has previously been successful with audiences. It is expected to be his second release of the year following Border 2.
