Vashu Bhagnani’s ‘cheating’ allegations against Netflix DEBUNKED | What happened?

New Delhi: Producer Vashu Bhagnani has been making headlines with his recent shenanigans. The producer’s recent feud with Big husband small husband director Ali Abbas Zafar already had Vashu Bhagnani in deep waters. However, in a turn of events, the producer has made some serious allegations against the OTT streaming giant, Netflix. The heat rises as Netflix responds in an official statement, shutting down all claims.

In an interview, Vashu Bhagnani claims that Netflix ‘cheated him out of’ Rs 43.37 crore. You read that right! Amid claims made against the producer himself, Vashu spoke to the Economic Times to explain his plight. However, do these claims have any truth to them? Here is what happened.

Vashu Bhagnani accuses Netflix of non-payment

In the aforementioned interview, Vashu Bhagnani alleged that Netflix owed him Rs 43.37 crore. He claimed that the OTT platform ‘conspired and cheated against the rights’ of his most recent movies – Hero No 1, Mission Raniganj and the controversial movie Big husband small husband. As per the report, Vashu Bhganani has filed a complaint against Los Gates Production Services India and Zoo Digital India along with a report against the executives of said companies. In addition to this, the report states that the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has called upon the production services of the firms.

Netflix denies all claims made by Vashu Bhagnani

Following this, Netflix released an official statement that said that it was, in fact, Pooja Entertainment, Vashu Bhagnani’s company, that owed money to the OTT platform. The statement called Vashu’s claims ‘completely unfounded’. Further, the release stated that the necessary authorities are resolving the dispute behind the scenes.

For context, Vashu Bhagnani himself was accused of non-payment of dues that amounted to Rs 7.30 crores by Big husband small husband crew. After the flopping at the box office, the director of the film, Ali Abbas Zafar claimed that Pooja Entertainment siphoned subsidy funds worth Rs 9.50 crore from Abu Dhabi during the film shoot. In addition to these claims, Vashu Bhagnani also faced allegations of extortion, coercion and defamation.
