Vayu Shakti 2026 Pokhran: A Display of Strength

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, observed the ‘Vayu Shakti–2026’ exercise at the Pokhran Firing Range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on Friday.

The Vayu Shakti exercise followed a structured operational storyline, simulating a live, integrated combat environment. Among the dignitaries present were Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh.

Vayu Shakti-2026 showcased the courage, dedication, and professional excellence of the Indian Air Force. The primary objective of this exercise was to demonstrate the capability for swift and precise strikes in simulated wartime scenarios. Various fighter jets, transport aircraft, and attack helicopters engaged designated targets with accuracy.

The thunderous roar of aircraft and precision bombing in the desert vividly illustrated the Indian Air Force’s modern combat strength and operational readiness. Advanced fighter aircraft, including Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30MKI, HAL Tejas, and Mirage 2000, executed precision strikes with air-to-ground guided bombs and missiles, successfully targeting enemy bunkers, runways, and command centres. The Boeing Apache and Boeing Chinook helicopters also carried out low-altitude rocket and gun firing drills, casualty evacuation operations, and transportation of equipment to challenging battlefield terrains.

In addition to showcasing firepower, ‘Vayu Shakti–2026’ served as a coordinated demonstration of technology, integration, and rapid response capabilities. The exercise highlighted readiness for combat operations under both day and night conditions and effectively tested integrated wartime operations, including air superiority, ground support, and logistical support. Vayu Shakti-2026 reaffirmed the IAF’s status as a multi-domain force and a key pillar of national deterrence.
