‘VB-Ji Ram Ji’ bill passed in Lok Sabha, opposition created ruckus… protested by tearing papers… Shivraj targeted Congress

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh replied in the Lok Sabha on the Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) Bill i.e. VB–G Ram G. During this, the opposition raised slogans against the bill. Opposition MPs reached the well and threw papers.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, MNREGA was not named after Mahatma Gandhi in the first place. Earlier it was NREGA. Later, when 2009 elections came, Mahatma Gandhi was remembered because of the elections and votes. Remembered Bapu. Then Mahatma Gandhi was added to it.

After this, the ‘VB-Ji Ram Ji Bill’ bill was passed by voice vote in the House. Earlier, the opposition took out a march in the Parliament complex in protest against this bill. More than 50 opposition MPs participated in this and raised slogans to withdraw the VB-G-RAM-G bill.

Earlier on Wednesday, the VB-G-RAM-G bill was discussed in the Lok Sabha for 14 hours. The proceedings continued till 1:35 am. 98 MPs participated in it. The opposition demanded that the proposed law be sent to the standing committee. It will replace the 20 year old MGNREG Act.

Big things about Wednesday’s proceedings in Parliament…

  • Not a single student in more than 5 thousand government schools- Of the 10.13 lakh government schools across the country, 5,149 do not have a single student. More than 70% of these schools with zero enrollment in the 2024-25 academic session are in Telangana and West Bengal. The Education Ministry has given this information in the Parliament. The number of schools with zero or less than 10 students has increased by 24% in the last two years.
  • Access to 43 OTT platforms closed across the country- In response to a question, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan told the Lok Sabha that access to 43 OTT platforms has been blocked. This action has been taken against those platforms which were broadcasting content prohibited by law.

Lok Sabha proceedings adjourned till tomorrow

After the ‘VB-Ji Ram Ji’ bill was passed in the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings of the House till 11 am on Friday.

Shivraj’s allegation – Mahatma Gandhi’s name was added in 2009 for electoral gains.

Shivraj said, Congress does not believe in Gandhi

Shivraj said, Congress never listened to Gandhiji. We believe in Gandhiji. Gandhiji had said that if independence was achieved then Congress should be dissolved. The day Kashmir was given special status, the Constitution was murdered. Modi ji government has removed many shortcomings in MNREGA. Corruption has taken place in many ways in MNREGA.

Shivraj Singh said- many schemes were named after Nehru family

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh said, how many schemes were named after the Nehru family. 55 state government schemes were named after Rajiv ji. 74 roads were named after Rajiv, 15 national parks were named after Nehru. Congress has this obsession with naming. Let us tell you that Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said on December 16 that we oppose this bill. The obsession with changing the name of every scheme is incomprehensible.

Congress said- Yes Ram Ji, send the bill to the standing committee.

Congress MP KG Venugopal asked the Speaker to send the Vikas Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) Bill (VB–G Ram G) to a standing committee or a joint parliamentary committee. However, the Speaker rejected the request saying that the bill had been debated for more than 14 hours. Meanwhile, as the opposition started sloganeering, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanded that the debate continue.

Shivraj said- We do not discriminate, Bapu is our inspiration and faith.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said in the Lok Sabha that- We do not discriminate against anyone, Bapu is our inspiration and faith. The entire country is one for us. The country is not just a piece of land for us. Our thoughts are not narrow and constricted.

Manish Tiwari said on MNREGA – Government is ending employment guarantee

On the MNREGA controversy, Congress MP Manish Tiwari said, ‘The problem is that you are insulting Mahatma Gandhi. You are trying to create unnecessary distinction between Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Ram. When Nathuram Godse shot Mahatma Gandhi, you knew which organization Godse was associated with. Gandhiji’s last words were ‘Hey Ram’. Why are you adamant on ending such a good scheme started in the name of Mahatma Gandhi, which acted as a social security safety net for crores of poor people? If you read the bill, the employment guarantee given in MNREGA has been completely removed.

VB – On Ram Ji, Kharge said – rights are being taken away from the people.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, ‘This is not an issue of changing the name of MNREGA, but a question of right to work. The rights we had given are being taken away. They are snatching away the rights of the people. This is a big issue and extremely difficult for the poor. So we will fight it till the end. We will fight on the streets and there will be agitation in every district of every state.

Opposition MPs protest in Parliament premises, say atrocities on minorities should stop

Opposition MPs on Thursday raised the issue of atrocities on minorities in the Parliament complex and protested in the Parliament complex. They had posters in their hands.
