Vedanta's Hindustan Zinc Inaugurates 31 Modernized Nand Ghars in Rajsamand
Udaipur: In a significant move toward strengthening Rajasthan’s anganwadi infrastructure, Hindustan Zinc, India’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, inaugurated 31 Nand Ghars in Rajsamand district. These modernized anganwadis, developed in collaboration with the Anil Agarwal Foundation, aim to serve as centers of holistic development for women and children.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Madara Nand Ghar in the Railmagra block, was graced by dignitaries including Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, MLA – Nathdwara; Shrimati Mahima Kumari Mewar, MP for Rajsamand; and Arun Misra, CEO – Hindustan Zinc Limited. Also present were Shrimati Anupam Nidhi, Head CSR at Vedanta and Hindustan Zinc; Balwant Singh Rathore, IBU CEO – Rajpura Dariba Complex; and prominent local leader Kalyan Singh Shaktawat. Enthusiastic participation from the local community, district administration, and the Nand Ghar team highlighted the event.
Driving Holistic Development for Rural Communities
Nand Ghar, Vedanta’s flagship community initiative under the aegis of the Anil Agarwal Foundation and in partnership with the Ministry of Women & Child Development, delivers integrated solutions for child and women development. Equipped with e-learning tools, solar power, nutrition programs, healthcare services, and women empowerment activities, these centers set a new standard for rural development.
Located in the Railmagra and Khamnor blocks, the newly inaugurated Nand Ghars aim to transform rural communities by fostering sustainable development. The initiative aligns with the Anil Agarwal Foundation’s ambitious plan to establish 25,000 Nand Ghars across Rajasthan within the next two years.

Addressing the gathering, Shrimati Mahima Kumari Mewar emphasized the importance of grassroots development. “Children and women are central to Rajasthan’s growth strategy. The Nand Ghar initiative reflects a shared vision of the Government of India, Vedanta, Hindustan Zinc, and the Anil Agarwal Foundation to nurture our communities. This is a transformative step forward for rural development,” she said.
Vishvaraj Singh Mewar echoed these sentiments, stating, “The future of Rajasthan lies in the well-being of its children and women. Initiatives like Nand Ghar will create sustainable development hubs, ensuring holistic growth for our communities.”
Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra remarked, “At Hindustan Zinc, our commitment to nurturing Rajasthan’s roots—its children—drives initiatives like Nand Ghar. By integrating education, healthcare, and sustainable development, we are laying the foundation for an inclusive and prosperous future.”
A Proven Track Record in Social Impact
This initiative builds on a year of remarkable achievements for the Anil Agarwal Foundation. In 2024 alone, over 550 Nand Ghars were established across six districts in Rajasthan, contributing to a total of approximately 3,500 centers in 15 districts. Nationally, the initiative has modernized over 6,600 anganwadis across 15 states, positively impacting more than 2,60,000 children and 1,90,000 women.
In addition to the Nand Ghar program, Hindustan Zinc’s social initiatives span education, women empowerment, healthcare, water and sanitation, skill development, and infrastructure improvement. Flagship programs such as Shiksha Sambal, jeevan wave, high flyingand Zinc Football Academy have benefited nearly 20 lakh people across 3,700 villages.
