To steam vegetables, water is boiled and with the help of a strainer the vegetables are cooked on it. This is also called steaming. Vegetables are not put directly in water but are cooked on the flame of this water. Nowadays many people like to eat these types of vegetables because they are very tasty to eat. Besides, its nutrients also remain intact which helps in keeping the body healthy. Many doctors also recommend eating such vegetables. Many people include it in their diet to lose weight.

Experts say that due to boiling, water-soluble nutrients like Vitamin C present in vegetables dissolve in water during cooking, thereby reducing their nutritional value. According to studies, steamed vegetables contain more vitamins, including beta-carotene, flavonoids and antioxidants, than boiled vegetables. Even though steaming causes loss of Vitamin C, it is still a better option than boiling. After steaming vegetables for five minutes, the loss of Vitamin C is 14 percent, whereas after boiling for five minutes, the loss of Vitamin C can be 54 percent.
