What is the story of Saint Veronica?

Saint Veronica is a woman who is traditionally much talked about. According to Christian beliefs, when Jesus Christ was going to be crucified, Veronica gave him her scarf so that he could wipe his sweat. Due to the touch of Jesus Christ, Veronica’s scarf was imprinted with his face.

 

Saint Veronica kept her scarf throughout her life. He handed this scarf over to Pope Clement just before his death, after which it passed to Pope John during the 8th century. This story is not written in the Bible but the story of Saint Veronica exists in Catholic tradition.

What is the story of Clopas?

The story of Clopas is described in the Bible. According to this story, on Easter Sunday, a man named Clopas was going with a companion to the village of Emmaus. This village is about seven miles from Jerusalem. On the way he met Jesus Christ but he could not recognize him. On the way, Clopas expressed his feelings that Jesus Christ was a great man in deeds and words but he was crucified. We thought that he would save us.

 

Clopas also said that three days had passed since his death and when some women went to his tomb, their body was not found there. Jesus then explained that suffering for the Messiah was not a coincidence, but part of a divine plan. Resurrection and glory were not possible without suffering and death. It shows the balance between sacrifice and victory. After this, when Jesus Christ sat with him and ate bread, Clopas realized that he was Jesus Christ. After which Jesus Christ disappeared from there.
