Vespa Officina 8 scooter launched in India at Rs 1.34 lakh: What’s special
Alongside the scooter, Vespa has introduced a range of accessories and merchandise aligned with the Officina 8 theme. This includes a colour-matched helmet supplied as standard, an optional top box finished in the same matte tone, and branded apparel and accessories. Buyers will also receive a complimentary welcome kit containing a specially crafted tin box and an owner’s book detailing the origins of Officina 8 and the early development of the Vespa.
Established in 1944, Officina 8 functioned as a dedicated experimental centre where engineers and technicians worked outside regular production lines to develop, test and refine prototypes. The work carried out there led to the patenting of the Vespa in 1946, introducing features such as the step-through steel frame, two-stroke engine, direct-drive transmission and handlebar-mounted gear control. As Piaggio’s research and development activities expanded in the following years, Officina 8 became closely associated with innovation and precision.
