Veteran cricketers will be seen playing Vijay Hazare Trophy… BCCI instructions

New Delhi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the management of Team India have already made it clear that the star players who are not in the team or are not playing international cricket, then they will have to play domestic cricket. In this episode, India’s T20 International team captain Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Shivam Dubey will also be seen playing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Both these players will play in Mumbai’s last two matches in the group stage of this tournament, while Yashasvi Jaiswal can join the team on December 29.

This top 50-50 over domestic tournament starts from December 24 and its group stage matches will be held across four venues – Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jaipur and Bengaluru. Suryakumar and Dubey have been confirmed to be available for the matches against Himachal Pradesh and Punjab in Jaipur on January 6 and 8, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is recovering from gastritis, can join the team on December 29. He was hospitalized for some time, but is now on the verge of complete recovery.

Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has reached Jaipur, where Mumbai has to play its group phase matches. Mumbai is in Group C along with Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Goa. After the home series against South Africa, BCCI has asked Indian players to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This is the reason why major players are making themselves available for their respective domestic teams.

Gil-Virat will also play the tournament
Test and ODI team captain Shubhman Gill, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh and T20 team opener Abhishek Sharma have been included in the Punjab team, while Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will play the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi. This will be the first time in the last decade, when big star players will be seen together in the domestic tournament. However, key players will withdraw from the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the ODI and T20 series against New Zealand in January. After this T20 World Cup 2026 will be played.
