20 sixes and 13 fours, Sameer Rizvi created a stir by scoring a double century in 97 balls.

Young Indian cricketer Sameer Rizvi has stolen the limelight by scoring the fastest double century in domestic cricket. 21-year-old Rizvi showcased his immense talent and scored a double century in just 97 balls while playing for Uttar Pradesh in the Men's Under-23 State A Trophy match against Tripura.

Rizvi scored unbeaten 201 runs and his explosive innings also saw 13 fours and 20 skyscraper sixes. Rizvi came to bat in the 23rd over and single-handedly took his team to a huge score of 405 runs. Although this record of Rizvi will not be added to List A, you may not see an innings like Rizvi again.

The record for scoring the fastest double century in List A cricket is currently in the name of New Zealand's Chad Bowes, who broke the joint record of India's Narayan Jagadeesan and Australia's Travis Head. Both Jagadeesan and Head achieved the feat in 114 balls during the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Marsh Cup respectively. Despite not being officially listed, Rizvi's innings will always be remembered by fans.

In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Rizvi was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 95 lakh, which is significantly cheaper than last season where Chennai Super Kings signed him for Rs 8.4 crore for IPL 2024. Often compared to Suresh Raina for his aggressive batting style, Rizvi had a disappointing debut season in the IPL, scoring just 51 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 118.60. CSK decided not to retain the uncapped player for Rs 4 crore, instead releasing him.

However, looking at Rizvi's recent performance, CSK might be regretting their decision as he has been in great form. Apart from his double century, he has played two consecutive brilliant innings, scoring 153 runs in one match and 137 not out in the other. With his current great form, Rizvi can prove to be a key player for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL season.
