Video-Boat going from Mumbai Gateway of India to Elephanta capsized, 80 people were on board, 77 people rescued, three missing

Mumbai: A boat going from Mumbai Gateway of India to Elephanta met with an accident. There were 80 passengers in the boat. The incident occurred at 3:55 pm. 77 people have been rescued after the accident. Three people are still reported missing.

The rescue operation was started by the Navy in coordination with the Coast Guard and Marine Police. 11 boats of Navy, 03 boats of Marine Police and 01 boat of Coast Guard are deployed in the water area. Apart from this, 04 helicopters are also engaged in this work. Eyewitnesses said that a small boat which was traveling at high speed collided with the boat due to which water started filling in the accident boat and it sank.

Relief and rescue operations continue

A police official said that the boat was heading towards 'Elephanta' island near Mumbai, but it capsized near Uran. After the boat accident, relief and rescue operations are underway with the help of Navy, JNPT, Coast Guard, Yellowgate Police Station 3 and local fishing boats. The name of the sinking boat is Neelkamal.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wrote on social media platform Boats of Navy, Coast Guard, Port, Police teams have been sent for immediate assistance. We are in constant touch with the district and police administration, fortunately most of the citizens have been rescued. However, the rescue work is still going on. The district administration has been ordered to deploy all those systems for rescue operations.

What did Aditya Thackeray say on the boat accident?

Regarding the Mumbai boat accident, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray said that according to the information, a boat has overturned. There were about 30-35 people on the boat. We raised this issue in the House. CM said that rescue work is going on. We hope everyone is safe.
